How it works
The AI button in the reading pane uses a small AI model that comes with Metre2 Mail and runs on your PC. Nothing you read or write is sent anywhere. It loads the first time you use it, which can take a few seconds.
- Answers stream into a card at the top of the conversation, labelled ON-DEVICE AI · NOTHING LEAVES THIS PC, with Copy and Close. Cancel stops it.
- One request at a time. Long conversations are shortened to fit, keeping the newest email whole - the card says when.
Summarise
AI > Summarise gives you the gist of the whole conversation in a few bullet points.
Draft a replyPRO
AI > Draft a reply... writes a reply to the conversation. Type what it should say if you like - "say yes, Monday works" - then Insert into reply puts it in the composer above the quoted email, ready to edit.
- Read it before you send it: the AI can get things wrong.
TranslatePRO
AI > Translate... translates the newest email into English, French, German, Italian, Spanish or Polish. Names, numbers and dates are kept as they are.
If the AI button is missing
The model comes with the app. If Mail says it's missing, reinstall Metre2 Mail from the Microsoft Store to get it back. Metre2 Mail 1.2 needs a 64-bit PC (x64 or Arm).
