BIM Explorer Pro

UK IDS check packPRO

No IDS file from the client? BIM Explorer Pro comes with five ready-made UK starter checks - Uniclass on every element, spaces named and numbered, base quantities present, core common properties and a handover minimum. One click runs a check and lists every failing element, with an HTML or CSV report. Or load the client's own buildingSMART IDS file.

BIM Explorer Pro's Checks tab after running the UK base quantities check on the sample house: specifications passed and failed, with the failing walls listed and highlighted
How it works

Step by step

1

Open the model

Open the IFC model you want to check.

2

Open Checks

Open the Checks tab. Under Load IDS file… is the UK check pack.

3

Run a check

Click a check. It runs straight away and shows each specification with how many elements it applies to and how many passed.

4

Find what's failing

Open a failed specification to see each failing element and why. Click one to select it in the model.

5

Share the result

Export the result as an HTML report or CSV, and send it back with the model - or raise BCF issues for the worst ones.

Frequently asked questions

What's in the five checks?

1. Uniclass on every element: main building element classes carry a classification whose system contains "Uniclass". 2. Spaces named and numbered: IfcSpace Name and LongName. 3. Base quantities present: walls side area, slabs, roofs and coverings area, beams, columns and members length, doors and windows width, height and area. 4. Core common properties: walls and slabs IsExternal and LoadBearing, walls and doors FireRating. 5. Handover minimum: project, site, building and storeys named, and door and window types with Manufacturer and ModelReference.

Do they replace the client's IDS or EIR?

No. They're starter checks - a quick way to see what's missing. The client's own IDS and information requirements always come first, and BIM Explorer Pro checks against those too.

Is the handover check COBie?

No. It's a starter check for a few handover basics, not COBie validation.

Can I see or change the checks?

Yes. They're ordinary IDS 1.0 files - download them from the downloads page, change them in any IDS editor and load your copy with Load IDS file.

Is it free?

The IDS check and the UK pack are part of BIM Explorer Pro (a one-off £29.99, free 7-day trial). The viewer and the quantity check are free.
