Metre2 Mail - free

Private by defaultFREE

Metre2 Mail is private by default. Pictures that tell a sender you've opened their email are hidden until you choose; tracking tags are taken off links before they open; every email is shown sandboxed, with no scripts or forms; and emails pretending to be from someone they're not get a clear warning. No ads, no Metre2 account, and your mail never passes through our servers.

How it works

Step by step

01

Pictures stay hidden

Pictures that load from the internet are hidden, and a bar says how many. Show pictures shows them for this email; Always from the sender trusts them.

02

Links are cleaned

Remove tracking from links (on by default) takes utm_, fbclid, gclid and similar tags off a link before it opens. A link whose text shows one site but goes to another is flagged first.

03

Every email is sandboxed

Emails are shown in a sandbox with no scripts and no forms. The caption under each one says what was done.

04

Fakes get a warning

An email that says it's from a bank, a delivery company or another well-known name but comes from somewhere else gets a red warning, with Report as junk and Block sender.

05

Unsubscribe and block

One-click Unsubscribe on mailing lists, and Block sender - or a whole domain - straight to Junk.

Frequently asked questions

Is my email private?

Yes. Your mail goes straight between your PC and your email provider - it's never copied to Metre2's servers, and there are no ads. Passwords are kept in Windows Credential Locker.

What is a tracking picture?

A tiny picture, often invisible, that loads from the sender's server when you open an email - which tells them you opened it, when, and roughly where. Metre2 Mail hides them until you choose to show them.

What does "sandboxed" mean?

Each email is shown in a sealed-off frame where scripts can't run and forms don't work, so an email can only be read, not act on your PC.

Does Metre2 see anything?

Only anonymous usage counts - how often features are used - which you can turn off. Never your mail, contacts or passwords.

Is all this free?

Yes. Every privacy feature is in the free app.
