Search drawing text
Press Ctrl+F, use Search Text in the PDF tab, or the search button next to Find or jump page. Type a word, a door or room number, a note - Takeoff Studio searches the text of every page (upper or lower case doesn't matter; tick Whole word to skip partial matches such as FD30 inside FD30S). Matches are listed by page with the words around them. Click one, or press Enter / F3 for the next and Shift+Enter / Shift+F3 for the previous, to go to the page and zoom to it; the match is outlined in orange and other matches on the page are shaded yellow. Esc closes the search.
Large sets
Text is read one page at a time the first time you search and is kept with the project on your PC, so the next search, even after reopening, is quick. Replacing the drawing reads the new text.
Scanned drawings
Search, the register and the title block scale use the text inside the PDF. A scanned drawing (a picture of the paper) has no text, so it can't be searched or read; Takeoff Studio tells you which pages these are. It doesn't read text from images.
Drawing register
PDF tab > Drawing Register (or Ctrl+K > Drawing register) reads each page's title block - usually bottom right - and suggests a sheet number (A-101, 1234-ARC-ZZ-01-DR-A-0101 or whatever follows Drawing No), a title, the revision (Rev C, P02) and the scale. Edit anything that's wrong in the table, then Accept a row or Accept All. Accepted names (number - title) become the page names used in the page list, find or jump, exports and legends. Reject keeps the page's own name; Undo puts back the plain page name. Click a page number to go to it.
Register CSV
Export CSV in the register (or Export drawing register in the command palette) downloads the register - page, sheet number, title, revision, scale, paper size, page name and status - for a drawing issue sheet or document register.
Scale from title block
PDF tab > Set Scale from Title Block finds scale notes in the page text - 1:100 @ A1, 1:50@A3, Scale 1:200, imperial ones such as 1/4" = 1'-0" or 1" = 20' - and shows what it found and where (Show zooms to it). One click sets the page's calibration. If the sheet has several scales, pick the one for the part you are measuring; parts at different scales can each be calibrated as their own scale region: click Calibrate as a region, then click two opposite corners round that part of the sheet, and the region gets the scale from the note while the page keeps its own. NTS means not to scale and can't be used. When an uncalibrated page has a scale note, the status bar tells you.
Paper size check
A scale only holds at the paper size it was drawn for. Takeoff Studio compares the paper size in the note (@ A1) with the size of the PDF page. If they differ - an A1 drawing saved or printed at A3 - it warns you and offers the scale at this size (1:100 @ A1 on an A3 page measures 1:200) as well as the scale as written. Always check one known dimension after calibrating.
