BCF issues and sections

Coordination tools turn model review into a record of issues, decisions and viewpoints. Creating BCF issues and exporting them is free; importing BCF files from other tools and reviewing them is part of BIM Explorer Pro.

• Navigate to the model area that explains the issue or decision.
• Use visibility, sectioning, display modes or colours by property to make the relevant objects obvious.
• Select the elements the issue is about, then choose New issue in the BCF tab: the camera, selection, hidden elements, colours, the section plane and a snapshot are kept with it.
• With the section on, move the cut with the Section height slider in the 3D view.
• Export the issues as a .bcfzip in BCF 2.1 or BCF 3.0 for any other BCF tool.
• Use viewpoints to return to a useful camera position during later review.
• Keep coordination issues separate from BOQ rows unless they genuinely affect cost or scope.
