A RAMS document, built in minutes, not hours

RAMS Generator

A quick risk assessment and method statement generator for small jobs. Fill in job details, hazards and method steps on one side, and watch a fully formatted RAMS document build itself on the other - live, as you type. Every hazard is scored on a 5x5 risk matrix, one-click templates cover the common risks so you're never starting from a blank page, and the finished document exports straight to PDF.

RAMS Generator, in practice

A closer look at the split-screen Builder, and the hazard template gallery.

Watch the document build itself, live

The Builder tab is a split screen - a form on the left, a fully formatted RAMS document preview on the right. Every hazard, control measure and method step you add updates the preview instantly, so what you see is exactly what gets exported.

A real 5x5 risk matrix, not just a number

Every hazard is scored on likelihood (1-5) and severity (1-5), landing it on a colour-coded 5x5 matrix - low, medium or high - with a live count of how many hazards sit in each cell, so you can see your risk profile at a glance.

One-click hazard templates

A dozen common construction hazards - working at height, manual handling, hot works, excavation, electrical work and more - each pre-filled with a typical risk rating and control measures. Click to add one to your RAMS, then edit it to fit the actual job.

PPE required, at a glance

Ten common PPE items as toggle chips - hard hat, hi-vis, gloves, eye and ear protection, RPE, a safety harness and more. Selected items show up in the live preview and the exported PDF automatically.

A method statement that reorders itself

Add each step as you think of it, then reorder with a single click - up, down, or delete - and the numbering updates automatically in both the preview and the exported document.

Every RAMS you've built, kept together

Save as many RAMS documents as you need on the Saved tab - each shows the job, the date, hazard count and highest risk rating at a glance. Reopen any of them straight back into the Builder to update and re-export.

Export a formatted PDF, ready to print

One click builds a proper RAMS document - job details, the risk assessment table, PPE list, numbered method statement, and signature lines for prepared-by and read-and- understood-by - ready to print or send.

Your company name, on every document

Set your company name and a default "prepared by" name once in Settings, and every new RAMS you build starts pre-filled with them.

Light/dark theme, and sample data

A light/dark toggle that remembers your choice, and "Load sample RAMS" fills in a realistic job with a handful of hazards and method steps to explore the app before you build your own.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything to use RAMS Generator?

RAMS Generator is a Windows desktop app, free to try from the Microsoft Store.

Does my RAMS Generator account work with Vector and Forma?

Yes - RAMS Generator uses the same shared Metre2 account as Vector, Forma and every other Keystone app. Sign in once and it works everywhere.

Is this a substitute for a proper health & safety review?

No - it's a quick starting point for small jobs, not a replacement for a competent person's judgement or a formal H&S management system. Always review the hazards, control measures and risk ratings against the actual job before work starts.

How is the risk rating calculated?

Each hazard is scored on a standard 5x5 matrix - likelihood (1-5) multiplied by severity (1-5), giving a score from 1 to 25. Scores of 1-4 are Low, 5-10 are Medium, and 11-25 are High.

What do the hazard templates add?

Each template is a pre-filled hazard (description, who's at risk, a typical likelihood/severity rating and control measures) for a common construction risk, like working at height or hot works. Click one to add it straight into the RAMS you're building - you can still edit anything it adds.

Where does my data go?

Everything persists on your device between sessions and in any PDF you export - nothing is uploaded anywhere. Data doesn't currently sync across multiple devices.

Can I keep more than one RAMS document?

Yes - use "Save as new" on any RAMS you're building to add it to the Saved tab, where you can reopen it into the Builder or delete it at any time.

Is this only for construction trades?

The hazard templates are construction-focused, but the Builder itself works for any small job that needs a risk assessment and method statement - add your own hazards and steps for other trades.
