Lamplight Darts' title screen - a dartboard in its open cabinet under the lamp in a dark 3D club room, with chalkboards in the doors, regulars round the room and the gold pixel-art Lamplight title

Lamplight Darts, in practice

The club room, a maximum, Cricket on the TV camera, a finish in the close-up, a game of Killer and the chip shop.

Every pub game

501 and 301 with double out or any dart, over legs and sets; Cricket; Shanghai; Round the Clock; and Killer for up to five.

A lamplit 3D darts room

A regulation board in an open cabinet under a warm lamp, with the scores chalked in the doors, in the same pixel-art style as the Card Room and the Cue Club.

A throw you can feel

Aim, hold and let go. The dot wanders with your hand and the timing decides whether the dart drops, flies true or climbs. Make your hand steadier or switch off the timing whenever you like.

Nine regulars to beat

The same faces as the Card Room and the Cue Club - from Cecil, who throws like he's posting a letter, to Dolores - each with their own arm, and they stand round the room watching, cheering and groaning.

A ladder to climb

Beat the regular on the next rung to climb past them, all the way to club champion. Play for chips or just for the record.

The checkout chart

The route for every finish from 170 down, shown above your darts when you're on, plus a checkout trainer and round the doubles to practise them.

A caller and a crowd

One hundred and eighty! The caller calls every visit, on screen or out loud, and the room goes up for the big ones.

Play chips, never real money

Put chips on a match or a game of Killer. They can't be bought or cashed out, and the house stands you more if you run dry.

The chip shop

Spend your winnings on seven sets of darts - up to The Dolores - and four cabinets for the board. Twenty-eight trophies and your stats to collect.

Friends and gamepads

Pass the darts round two to four players on one device, and full gamepad support for playing from the sofa.

The TV camera

Watch the regulars' darts land from the side of the board, just like on the television, or from behind them at the oche.

Free, private, offline

No account, no adverts, nothing to buy. The whole room runs on your own device, in the browser or the Windows app, and your progress stays there.

How it compares to other darts apps

Most free darts games pay for themselves with adverts, or sell coins and darts for real money. Lamplight Darts does neither.

Frequently asked questions

Is any real money involved?

No. Chips are for play only. You can't buy them, cash them out or exchange them for anything, and if you run low the house stands you more for free.

Which games can I play?

501 and 301 with double out or any finish, over legs and sets; Cricket; Shanghai over 7 or 20 rounds; Round the Clock, with an option for doubles and trebles to jump you ahead; and Killer for up to five. There is also a practice board, a checkout trainer and round the doubles.

Who am I playing against?

The club's nine regulars - the same faces as Lamplight Card Room and Lamplight Cue Club - from nervous Cecil to Dolores, who nobody beats twice. Each throws their own way, and you climb a ladder by beating them in turn. You can also pass the darts round two to four people on one device.

How do I throw?

Aim with the mouse or by dragging on the board, then hold and let go. Let go in the green band and the dart flies true; too soon and it drops, too late and it climbs. Your hand wanders a little while you hold it, so pick your moment. You can make your hand steadier, or switch off the timing, in Settings.

Will it help me learn my finishes?

Yes. When you're on a finish, the route from the checkout chart is shown above your darts, the whole chart is in the menu, and the checkout trainer gives you a finish between 41 and 170 and nine darts to take it out.

Do I need to install anything to play?

No - play it straight from your browser, on a PC, tablet or phone, and add it to your home screen like an app. There is also a free Windows app in the Microsoft Store if you prefer an installed app.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No account, in either edition. The Windows app works fully offline. The browser edition needs a connection the first time it loads; after that the whole room is stored on your device and works offline too.

Where is my progress saved?

On your own device. Your chips, ladder place, trophies and stats stay on the device you play on - the browser edition and the Windows app each keep their own. In the browser, your chips are shared with Lamplight Card Room and Lamplight Cue Club.
