How it compresses
Pages are never turned into pictures, so lines, text and dimensions stay sharp and searchable. Photos and scans are re-encoded, and reduced where they're stored at a much higher resolution than they're shown on the page. Repeated images and fonts are stored once. Extras such as thumbnails and hidden metadata are removed if you choose. Password-protected PDFs need an unprotected copy first.
