Hive inspections and apiary records

Select a day

Apiaries

Click or drag the pin on the map to place an apiary.

All apiary locations

Every apiary plotted together on one real map - click a pin or marker to jump to it, or click a row below to pan the map there.

Queens

Assess each queen's age, temperament and behaviour independently of the hive she's currently in - queens are sometimes moved between hives, temporarily or permanently, so her record and history travel with her, not the hive.

Swarm season checklist

Five standard swarm-prevention checks, tracked per hive for this season (April-July is the highest-risk window, but you can tick these off any time of year).

Season at a glance

Hives overdue for inspection

Flagged once it's been more than 14 days since a hive's last logged inspection.

Data

Apiaries, hives, inspections, feeding, harvest, equipment, treatment and queen records persist on this device only (localStorage), tied to this Windows user account on this PC - they don't sync or back up anywhere automatically. Use "Backup all data" regularly and keep the file somewhere safe (a network drive, cloud folder, USB stick); if the app ever opens with no data - a new PC, a reinstalled profile, a cleared browsing-data policy - "Restore from backup" brings it all back. Export NBU-style CSV is for sharing inspection records elsewhere, not a substitute for a full backup.

Inspection reminders

Used by the Dashboard's "overdue for inspection" list and the reminder banner on the Calendar tab.

About the varroa advisory band

Colour-coded low/moderate/high bands next to a 24hr natural mite drop count are a rough, widely-cited rule of thumb only (under 10/day low, 10-50 moderate, over 50 high) - not veterinary or diagnostic advice, and not specific to your local conditions or time of year. Always follow BeeBase/NBU guidance and your own beekeeping association's recommendations.

Notifiable disease

If you suspect American Foulbrood, European Foulbrood, or any other notifiable pest or disease, contact the National Bee Unit / your local Bee Inspector directly (BeeBase) - do not rely on this app, or wait for a follow-up inspection, to confirm or report it.

Equipment inventory

Tracked per apiary - frames, supers, tools and other kit. Set a reorder threshold to see it flagged here and on the Dashboard when stock runs low.

Veterinary medicine administration

Purchased veterinary medicinal products - batch number, purchase date, quantity purchased and disposal method, plus supplier details. "Quantity remaining" is calculated from usage recorded against this product on the Log treatment form.
